RECITALS & scheduled lesson blocks
Laura offers three Lesson Blocks (or Lesson Terms) for the students of her studio.
BLOCK / TERM 1: January - May (With a recital in May or early June)
BLOCK / TERM 2: June - August (With a recital in August or early September)
BLOCK / TERM 3: September - December (With a recital in December or January)
recitals
The recital is the end goal for each student… to work hard to achieve the goal of performing well. Students work hard all term long to sing their songs with excellent vocal technique and stage presence. Every student who performs is given an award and award certificate at the end of each recital. Recitals can be held in one of two ways: Traditional Recitals or Online Recitals.
traditional recitals
Traditional recitals are held live with a crowd at the end of each term in Ronoake, Virginia at New Hope Christian Church. Family and friends are invited to attend as each student performs 2 songs for the crowd of people present. Laura emcees the recital, introducing each student and they get to answer some fun interview questions on stage as well. At the end, each participant receives an award and award certificate.
ONLINE recitals
Online recitals are either held live on Zoom, or in an edited video on YouTube for family and friends to attend and/or to view at the end of each term. If on Zoom, e-invites are sent to students and parents, who can share that e-invitation to family and friends who can all attend via Zoom, cheering each student along as he or she performs 2 songs for the crowd of people present. Laura emcees the recital, introducing each student and they get to answer some fun interview questions as well. When it comes time to sing, the student will be spotlighted on Zoom and they will perform their songs live from their home or other location. At the end, each participant receives an award and award certificate.
