what students need at home for online lessons & recitals
In order to take voice lessons in an online format and to perform online recitals, voice students need to have the following four things ready for each lesson…
two devices
For successful online lessons, students will need two separate devices: One to use to Zoom or FaceTime Laura; the Second to use to play your music from a bluetooth speaker or Alexa or other device.
For example, students could use: Two Phones; a Phone & Tablet; a Phone & Computer; Two Tablets, etc.
Music book and workbook
Laura will be sending each student a copy of his or her music along with a music workbook of handouts that they will use for voice lessons. So, every time a student logs on for their online lesson, they will need to have their music ready. Laura also provides a YouTube Practice Playlist for each student, and younger students do well performing with the music track videos Laura creates with the lyrics and music in time.
Headphones or earbuds with a microphone
In order for the student to hear Laura clearly, the student will need to have their own set of headphones or earbuds. We may not use these at every lesson, but each student should have a pair on-hand in case there are any issues hearing Laura during the lesson.

KARAOKE MACHINE OR KARAOKE MICROPHONE
Students REALLY need a way to play their music and sing into a microphone that are both connected to a speaker(s) at their home, to sing for Laura. When students attempt to play music just from a phone, computer, or tablet, the sound is not loud enough for a successful lesson; When students sing for Laura without a microphone, it is also difficult for Laura to hear the volume loud enough. So, unless you have an expensive sound system at your house, you will need to purchase a karaoke machine with a Bluetooth speaker or you can do a combo that is both a microphone and Bluetooth speaker.
